President’s Message

Welcome to the online home of Local 675. Headquartered in the City of Vaughan, Local 675 provides its members with employment and training opportunities in the areas of drywall, acoustic lathing, and insulation. With over 6,700 members strong across the Greater Toronto Area, Local 675’s members are helping build Ontario. We ensure that our contractors have a workforce with the skills and experience needed to complete projects on time and on budget while performing quality work productively and safely. Local 675 is committed to supporting its current members and providing the next generation of construction professionals with the skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive market.

By joining Local 675 and the Carpenters’ Union, members get to work under strong collective agreements that provide for some of the best wages, health benefit plans and pensions in the industry. We pride ourselves on being a progressive organization that supports members throughout their entire career. Recruiting and attracting future generations of construction professionals to Local 675 continues to be a focus for us. Our goal of expanding the skilled workforce in Ontario means that we are constantly recruiting diverse and underrepresented groups into the trades such as women, newcomers and youth. In Ontario, the construction industry is expected to need thousands of workers in the coming years. Our Local, along with the Carpenters’ Union across Ontario, is working hard to promote the trades as a lucrative and rewarding career that provides opportunities for training, learning and personal advancement.

Training is Local 675’s top priority. At our state-of-the art training centre – The Interior Finishing Systems Training Centre – Local 675’s members have access to and participate in apprenticeship, skill building and health and safety training. The construction industry is changing quickly, and our health and safety training and skill building classes allow our members to continually learn and develop new skills to be able to work on jobsites. In addition, at the Carpenters’ International Training Centre in Las Vegas, our members have access to over 1.2 million square feet of training space and participate in a variety of courses and programs that are focused on developing members’ skills and abilities both on and off the tools. Skills such as communication, problem solving, working with different generations and working with the most up-to-date technology are some of the training programs offered for members. Local 675 provides training to members that focuses on developing the total construction professional!

I invite you to take a few minutes to explore our online home and learn more about Local 675 and the benefits of joining our Union. If you are looking to be part of an organization that puts members first and provides the pathway and tools to advance in the construction trades, you have come to the right place.
